An important year for Lignano, which celebrates 120 years of seaside history since the foundation of its first establishment in 1904, and for the Monaco Suites Hotel, a bastion of hospitality on the coast thanks to the guidance of Enrico Salvadori, which this year debuts with many new services.

Located right in Piazza Fontana, the heart of Lignano Sabbiadoro and just a few minutes from the beach, the hotel opened the season with a renovated panoramic rooftop with cocktail bar and mini pool, three suites with Jacuzzi bathroom systems, and the new The Taste & Al Bancut which combines the fine dining cuisine of chef Rudi Santuz with the tradition of Al Bancut which in April 2024 was acquired by The Taste Restaurant of Monaco Suites Hotel.

Monaco Suites Hotel was founded in 1958 by the grandfather of the current owner Enrico Salvadori who became its owner in 1994, starting a series of constant improvements that culminated in 2018 with the restyling and expansion of the Hotel and the launch of a restaurant project also open to non-guests of the structure.

The hotel embodies the myth of Lignano as it was described by Ernest Hemingway who used to frequent it thanks to his friendship with the Kechler family. The great writer described it, in fact, as “the Florida of Italy” and, crossing the threshold of the Monaco Suites Hotel, this image immediately comes to mind.

Large Cuban royal palms form the backdrop to the view from the various floors, grey marble and white designer furniture decorate the lounge areas, and works by local artists are exhibited in temporary exhibitions in the hotel’s common areas, including those by the maestro and dear friend of the property Piero De Martin (1955-2022).

A metaphor dear to Enrico Salvadori for whom hospitality must be considered as a form of art. A philosophy that is expressed in the attentive staff, ready to fulfill every wish of the clientele, in the details, such as the Salvadori Body Care Line courtesy line and the Salvadori Ambiance room fragrance created by him in collaboration with the master perfumer Lorenzo Dante Ferro, or the convenient services, such as the reserved parking 300 meters from the hotel and the beach umbrella included in the room rate.

Breakfast, orchestrated by chef Santuz, can be served in your room or on the fourth floor of the hotel with a covered terrace.

While the evening at the Monaco Suites Hotel begins with an aperitif served on the fifth floor at The Sun, the panoramic rooftop, and continues at the restaurant The Taste & Al Bancut to delight in raw fish and a good glass of wine.

And the next day? You can go to the beach or ask the Concierge service for advice on discovering the nearby Marano Lagoon, with its typical casoni (traditional wooden and cane houses), or the most romantic panoramic points of Lignano, such as the Belvedere Trabucco and the Faro Rosso.

The Secret

Until the early 1900s, Lignano was a long strip of lagoon and thick vegetation. With the birth of “modern” tourism, the reclamation project began, which would lead to the inauguration of the first bathing establishment in 1904.
