In Trieste, a period residence has been transformed into a luxury boutique hotel inspired by an explorer's Wunderkammer, a secret place full of collectors' wonders inspired by the theme of travel.
Sleeping in history, and what a history. Seven Historical Suites is located inside the magnificent Palazzo Terni, built by the same important family as Casa Terni Smolars, the most beautiful example of Liberty in the city, and then belonged to Baron Goffredo de Banfield, the famous Austro-Hungarian aviator nicknamed “Eagle of Trieste”.
When Virginia Ciraldo Campailla‘s family takes possession of the spaces today occupied by Seven, they still found old letters, suitcases and trunks, now visible in the lounge room on the first floor of the hotel, which testify to the many trips taken by the de Banfields to the most beautiful hotels of that Epoque. And it is precisely to traveling, to the explorers by air and by sea, that Virginia decides to dedicate her new adventure, Seven Historical Suites; seven suites, each different from the other, furnished with great style thanks to the cooperation with the interior architect, antiquarian and friend Andrea Perra.
I have taken care of each suite down to the smallest detail, decorating it exclusively with precious antiques and furniture made to measure for Seven, to offer our guests the feeling of experiencing the fairytale of patrician Trieste.
(Virginia Ciraldo Campailla, owner)
Opened in 2014, the seven wunderkammers combine the Empire style with unique antiques, partly coming from the Sicilian residences of Virginia’s family. Impossible not to notice the splendid collections of Gorgonians, ostrich eggs, hedgehogs and vintage corals, purchased in Paris, the golden Sicilian chandelier from the 15th century, or the eighteenth-century wooden horse created by master craftsmen for the son of Borghese Prince of Rome, purchased by Virginia from an antiquarian in Catania.
A refined style that combines with contemporary comfort: in fact, all the rooms boast 2 spacious rooms in addition to the bathroom, Acqua di Parma courtesy line, king size beds, Frette linen sheets, and complimentary perfumes thanks to the collaboration with the historic perfume boutique Essenze in Trieste.
The real gem of the residence is the Presidential Suite, a 160 m2 apartment with two bedrooms and two marble bathrooms with hydromassage, which opens around a wonderful living room-museum. The expert eye will recognize many truly precious objects, from the etching in which the Virgin Mary is portrayed, that various critics trace back to the Da Vinci circle, to the original Empire-style furniture. Precisely because of its uniqueness in the entire FVG region, Seven Luxury Suites has been the protagonist of many photo shoots and important private events.
For special needs, the personal concierge service is also available, which can satisfy every request and organize the special experiences made available by Seven such as the spa in-suite, cooking classes, or private dinners.
The Secret
In Seven’s library lounge, Virginia has brought a comfortable 1980s Philippe Stark vintage velvet sofa purchased in Paris and many interior and travel books, which are available to guests. Upon request, breakfast can also be served here, to start the day in the name of Beauty.
