At 1200 meters above sea level, surrounded by paths crossed by deer, the structure where the farm stands today boasts a long history. Here there was, in fact, the Baracca del Sauc, an historic restaurant from which one of the many CAI routes that cross this area also takes its name.

Inaugurated in 2021, after a major renovation and expansion that also allowed the construction of a suggestive wellness area with a panoramic view, really unique in the whole area of Piancavallo, the Agritourism Relais Sauc in its new guise embodies the mountain dream of the owner Wally Fabbro, art connoisseur and creative soul, and her partner and entrepreneur Dino Galuppini.

The Relais was born from a stroke of love at first sight for this structure and for the gentle mountains in which it is located, an area truly full of charm and suggestions, still partly unexplored.

The Baracca del Sauc has today found a new dimension that combines sustainability, tradition and charm. The recovery and redevelopment operation has, in fact, transformed the old building into a farm perfectly integrated into the surrounding landscape, in particular thanks to an eco-lodge-style wooden plank roof, with annexed dairy and shelter for animals.

The interiors develop the theme of wood which in the seven rooms translates into minimal furnishings, mirrored wardrobes and double-height walls that give great breadth to the rooms, refreshing the typical “mountain” atmosphere with a contemporary twist. The charming lightening of the rooms has been created through a wonderful collection of lamps from the early twentieth century found by a trusted antique dealer, while in the restaurant room some of the chandeliers on the ceiling have been designed by Wally and Dino themselves and made to measure in a Murano furnace.

Adjacent to the building, the adults-only wellness area, available to guests upon reservation, offers a sauna, Turkish bath, Kneipp path and a spectacular panoramic relaxation area from which to admire the Venice lagoon and, on the clearest days, even Istria.

In the morning an irresistible sweet and savory breakfast awaits guests for a memorable start to the day. In addition to organic tea and coffee, the choice is really wide, including brioches and fragrant fresh cakes, fruit salad, and homemade bread with jams and alpine butter.
Before leaving, ask at reception for a visit to the stables to admire the newborns of Alpine grays, red spotted and Highlanders, typical Scottish long-haired cows, diligently protected by the two splendid Maremma sheepdogs of the house, Oliver and Cooper.

The Secret

When you go up the stairs that lead to the first floor, engraved on the wooden parapet, there is a lucky charm motif that origins from a brocade fabric and reinterpreted by Wally. Inside, two symbols are included: a Celtic cross, since the building stands near an ancient Celtic settlement, and a “triskelion”, in Greek “three legs”, which changes direction depending on the way of movement, thus helping the energy cycle.
